Book Club - A Gentleman in Moscow

We will be reading A Gentleman in Moscow, by Amor Towles, 2016. Count Alexander Ilyich Rostov is sentenced to house arrest in a 1922 trial, condemned for writing a poem. Already ensconced in luxury in Suite 317 of the Metropol Hotel he remains there for several decades. Many guests tell of Russia's condition and change Rostov's static life. The novel's themes run deeper than sociopolitical commentary to include parental duty, friendship, romance, the call of home.
