Peace Corps Commemorates JFK sticky icon

The JFK Presidential Library & Museum is hosting the Peace Corps community at a centennial commemoration of President Kennedy, including remarks by prominent RPCVs and a reception to follow.

There will be FREE museum admission for RPCVs on 5/27! Register for the commemoration and stay tuned for some BARPCV-hosted events to round out the JFK 100 weekend.

Mark your calendars for the 2017 BARPCV Annual Meeting. BARPCV members and the board will get together to discuss what has been accomplished in 2016, plans for 2017, programming strategies, and more! This will also be an opportunity to briefly see how a monthly BARPCV board meeting works, and the chance to mingle with board members and fellow RPCVs.

BARPCV will provide light refreshments, and we encourage members to bring a dish from their country of service. We hope to see you there!

RPCV Storytelling at JFK Library - Call for Stories!

Come share your story! The theme of the event is Building Bridges: Sharing Cultural Experiences.

Read the story guidelines and submission process here and submit your story before January 31! 

Story telling will be from 3:00 - 4:00 at the JFK Presidential Library & Museum, followed by a reception where all can socialize with fellow RPCVs, friends, family, & guests.

Book Club - Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI

For October we will discuss the following book, which has just made the short list in non-fiction for a National Book Award:

Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI, David Grann, 2017. Traces the history of our government's breaking of promises to the Osage Tribe throughout the 19th Century, the discovery of oil under Osage land, the killing of some two dozen people between 1920 and 1924, and the solving of the murders as the FBI's first significant test. Reads like the plot of a detective novel - "a delicious, many-layered mystery."
