TGIF: Cyclone Idai Disaster Relief Fundraiser @ Blaze Pizza in Cambridge

Join us at Blaze Pizza for dinner and drinks, and support great cause! BARPCV is raising funds to support emergency relief efforts in areas affected by Cyclone Idai. Funds will be raised through:

• a raffle of two Red Sox tickets and a signed photograph of Sox pitcher David Price
• a trivia contest with a cash prize (you can enter whenever you show up and still win!)
• a donations box accepting cash or credit
• a donation from Blaze Pizza of 20% of our sales during the event

Proceeds raised through this fundraiser will be sent to Save the Children, a humanitarian organization with ongoing relief efforts in the region. For those who cannot come, please still consider donating directly to Save the Children or donating through BARPCV using the Cash App handle $barpcv (100% of donations will be passed along to Save the Children).

Cyclone Idai was one of the most devastating tropical cyclones to ever hit the Southern Hemisphere. Idai brought winds of over 100 miles per hour and surge of over 20 feet through areas in Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Malawi, and Madagascar. The weeks-long storm claimed over 750 lives, left hundreds more missing, displaced over 100,000 people, and caused catastrophic damage to the region.

This TGIF fundraiser is special to BARPCV. Peace Corps has an active presence in three of the affected countries, Mozambique, Malawi, and Madagascar. Many BARPCV members served in these countries. Malawi was one of the first countries to receive PCVs, back in 1963. Your support of the areas affected by Idai continues the long tradition of service to this region.
